It's nothing special and I would be incredibly surprised if someone saw the need to steal it, but I was wondering what precautions I could take to ensure that no one ever could. Is there anyone way to officially copyright it, or does that cost something? I use Creative Commons for my photography, but I wasn't sure if that's actually official…
Nicole, that's a good suggestion. My sister is actually a very big fan of Stephenie Meyer's work, so she's sent me to that website before, in an attempt to win me over.
I have Adobe. Does anyone know how to get an Adobe file online?
According to U.S. Copyright law, any original work is immediately under copyright by it's creator the moment it's put into a fixed form (i.e. written down, sculpted, painted, recorded, etc.) without any need to file an actual copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office. However, this only protects you from having someone else steal your idea. If they actually did steal it and use it you can't sue them in court unless you've actually filed with the Copyright Office.
In other words, yes, you're safe to post your work on the web and it will be considered under copyright. If someone took it without your permission the only thing you could reasonably do is have your lawyer send them a Cease and Desist letter. If you copyright your work through the Copyright Office and they stole it you could sue them for monetary damages. You would have to show that you had the idea first. To prove that you came up with the idea first you would have to show in some way that you thought it up (i.e. first drafts, revisions).
Check the U.S. Copyright Office website for more info.
I need to listen to Wuthering Heights online for free. Cant find it in google. I need to listen to native speaker's English. I am doing literature this semester and I really need to listen to it. It's not sold here in any shops in Malaysia. Thank you.
Can't find it anywhere free myself. While the book is in the public domain, once it is recorded it becomes copyrighted again, so not free.
Audio from Sparknotes seems to cost money.
I found the audio book on a torrent search though. So your best bet would be to get a torrent downloader, like uTorrent. Then search for the audio book on a torrent search, like isohunt.com, shouldn't take too long.
My new novel is a mystery/thriller. It is published by a small publishing house in NY. The reviews and reader feedback have been great, but my publisher's promotional budget is small, so I am looking for ways to use the web to really get the word out. I am a novice in this area, so I would appreciate the help.
The title of my novel is To Serve & Protect and it is available on Amazon.

Make a video and post it on You tube and other video sites
Go to mystery/thriller book forums and post info and links to the site. Try to get your links where readers will see them.
Why did you not post the link in your question, free advertising right here. Yahoo'ers might check it out.
Good luck

Is there any way to earn from novel online.
You could go to cafepress.com or you could go to lulu.com either way they publish for free. I published 3 books through lulu.com and it didn't cost me anything but a lot of time and effort. I am very happy with how they came out, but I had to be my own illustrator and editor and designer . It was a lot of work and if you want to make money you will also need to promote the book yourself. Lulu gives you a storefront for your book and lists it in their store. You could also pay them for an isbn# so that it can be listed with amazon, etc. With lulu.com I only had to pay for each book that I needed and I had no hidden costs.
If you are looking to be a famous author though you probably shouldn't self publish. You will need to submit your work to a regular publishing house who can truly mass market a book and sell it.
If you want your book published by a large publishing house, you would need to research publishers and submit your manuscript according to their "submission guidelines"
This is the best way to go about publishing. It is the most difficult too. It is very hard to break into the traditional publishing market but if you are able to do it. You shouldn't have any publishing costs. The publisher pays you.
I've written a good but serious novel called Count All This (not light reading with themes of breast cancer and schizophrenia) and am serializing it on the web at http://www.countallthis.blogspot.com publishing a new chapter every Sunday.
What is the best way to publicize this site? How can I let more people know it's there? I want 100,000 hits and a glowing review in the New Yorker for my birthday!
Get an account on Bebo, then publish it online

I want to read the novel online. Thank you.
The Gutenberg Project has tens of thousands of books available for free download in pdf
http://www..gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
If, by chance, there is something you can't find there… then one of my English professors gave me this site, which is basically the same thing and was put together by the University of Pennsylvania:
http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/lis…
But I would try the Gutenberg Project first. I think their collection is more extensive.
I am goimg to write my own novel and put it online in my own website that I created on the Internet. What I want to know is: Do you need some legal protection for your novel on the web? Also, I can ask the customers to send the money via Western Union since I don't have a credit card account yet and I can put a free advertisement on YouTube and Yahoo! Video. Is there anything that I must put in place to send the novel via the web when the customer decides to buy it? I know how to put my novel on the web and to put it in PDF format. I'm just wondering if I missed out anything.
You wont sell anything if people have to use western union. Sign up with clickbank.com they will handle the credit card processing and send you a check. You can also let people sell it for you at a %.
