   If your library has a digital selection available online, you can borrow e-books with your library card. My library has a lot of newer and popular titles and mysteries. You could call your local library to ask or search for it online (which is how I found out about mine).

   For free e-books (of public domain books), you can't beat Gutenberg. It allows you to download e-texts and sometimes audio editions.

How it works is people can read, rate and comment on the submitted books online. You can see what books are popular, that may end up being published and potentially become next best sellers.
